How to Reload Your Phone at 7-Eleven's IBON

For all of us who live in Taiwan, 7-Eleven is the go to place for everything. Late night snacks, beers that are cheaper than the bar next door, train/plane/concert ticket reservations, Wi-Fi, the list goes on.

Most of us face this dilemma:

IBON, the epitome of convenience in a box, but only in Chinese.

You've flown here, struggled to understand how to get around with the crazy traffic, deciphered menus and got served unknown foods, bought a SIM card, and therein lies the problem, how to reload it. Why bother scooting all the way to the Chunghwa Telecom with your passport to reload your phone?

Here's a no nonsense guide to getting around this problem of how to reload your Chunghwa Telecom SIM card at IBON.

Screen 1: Main Menu

Choose "儲值" (chú zhí) meaning, "stored value."

Screen 2: Add Value Service

On the second screen, you'll need to choose. Choose "電信加值" (diànxìn jiā zhí) meaning, "add value to telecom."

Screen 3: Accept Terms & Conditions

On the third screen, accept the terms and conditions.

Screen 4: Choose Your Provider

The fourth screen, you can choose what carrier or provider you have a SIM card with. In this case, I'm choosing Chunghwa Telecom.

Screen 5: Pick Your Reload Amount

The fifth screen, you'll be able to choose how much you want to reload. For Chunghwa Telecom, you have three options 300NT, 500NT, and 1000NT.

Screen 6: Choose the Quantity.

Choose the quantity.

Screen 7: Confirmation

Confirm the quantity and accept the total. A slip should print from the machine.

Take the slip and pay at the register. They'll give you another receipt with the reload pin number and reload hotline.

Done and done. Hope this was helpful for most of you. I'd appreciate feedback on this post and any suggestions for future IBON guides.
